Trick-or-Treat!

By Romel Edmond - Posted on 19 October 2016

Good Afternoon!

It's that time of year again when Child Life in Pediatrics plan to celebrate Halloween on
Monday, October 31th in the afternoon. There will be a Trick or Treat Route on the 6E Pediatric Ward the staff will help direct everyone. The plan is for each child on the Ward, PICU, NICU and Level 2 to receive a costume in the morning to wear and take home. All patients who are cleared to leave their rooms will participate in a trick or treat route. Due to dietary restrictions for most we kindly ask for any non-edible donations to put in trick-or-treat bags. Please spread the word to your department and we hope to make this very special for our children. We ask for a quantity for approximately 50 patients. The following are some ideas:

* Stickers
* Activity Packs/Sets
* Notepads
* Journals
* Erasers
* Hand-held electronic games
* Matchbox Cars
* Pencils
* Markers
* Activity/Coloring books
* Age-appropriate books/magazines
* Rattles/Infant toys
* CDs
* New stuffed animals/beanie babies
* Crayons
* Word search magazines
* Adult coloring books
* Small lego sets
* Playing cards/uno cards
* Ear buds
* Light up wands
* Character water bottles

* We don't want to forget our infants and teen population as well!
* Gift Cards to nearby food chains for Older Teen/Adult patients

*Please NOTE: No items should have any toy weapons or inappropriate language that may offend someone. The items do not necessarily have to be Halloween themed.

You might find some great items at: Target Dollar bins, Dollar Tree, Michaels, Big Lots, 99cent store, Party City, and orientaltrading.com also has great prices.

Please contact Melissa at (310) 222-2130 or page (310) 501-2657 for any questions. If you would like to drop off before the due date of 10/24/16 feel free to bring to the Clinic and leave it with Shari, Lateefah, Lizeth, or Melissa in Child Life.

If your department would like to participate in the Trick or Treat route on the Pediatric Ward please let us know asap. We will be inviting Dr. Smith’s office, Residents office, the Pharmacy, PICU, Ward NURSE’S STATION, OT's office and the NICU to be a stop for the route.

Thanks for all of your support!!!
