Divisions of Neonatology and Pediatric Endocrinology to Present at WSPR
Harbor-UCLA Pediatrics will once again be well-represented at the Western Society for Pediatric Research Annual Meeting January 27-30, 2010, in Carmel, CA.
On Friday, Jan. 29, Dr. Jennifer Yee (faculty, Div. Pediatr. Endocrinology) will speak on "In vivo and ex vivo models of enhanced adipocyte differentiation in intrauterine growth restricted neonatal rats" at 8:45 am at the Carlson Hall (Church of the Wayfarer).
Dr. John Torday (Faculty, Div. Neonatology) will lecture on "Evolutionary biology as a cipher for neonatal lung biology and disease" at 9:15 at Sanctuary (All Saints Church).
Dr. Nghia Truong (fellow, Div. Neonatology) will present his research, "Postnatal rosiglitazone administration to neonatal rat pups does not alter the adult metabolic phenotype" at 11:45 at Sanctuary. Dr. Truong's research mentor is Dr. Virender Rehan (Div. Neonatology).
Later that day, Dr. Sirisha Perugu (fellow, Div. Neonatology) will present "Brain natriuretic peptide and echocardiographic indices of left ventricular performance in very low birth weight infants", research conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Rehan and Dr. Barry Baylen (Div. Pediatr. Cardiology). The location for the talk is the All Saints Church Auditorium, at 1:45 pm.
At 2:00 pm, you will need to head to the Sunset Center (Green Room) for Dr. Hernan Sierra's (fellow, Div. Neonatology) presentation on "Role of parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHRP) in intestinal epithelial cell apoptosis in the pathogenesis of necrotizing enterocolitis", mentored by Dr. Rehan.
On Saturday, Jan. 30, the Division of Neonatology fellows have three more oral presentations. All were mentored in their research by Dr. Rehan.
At 9:30 am, Dr. Melissa Krebs will present "In utero nicotine exposure disrupts global parathyroid hormone-related protein signaling" at the Auditorium (All Saints Church).
Then, at 9:45 am Dr. Julia Corral will present "Effect of maternal food restriction on fetal rat lung development", located in the Sanctuary at All Saints Church.
At 11 am, Dr. Jie Liu will speak about "Prevention of perinatal nicotine exposure-induced alterations in airway constriction by peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) agonist rosiglitazone", also at Sanctuary.
