Harbor-UCLA Pediatrics Resident Alumnus Linton Yee, M.D., Receives Teaching Award from Duke
Harbor-UCLA Pediatrics Resident Alumnus Linton Yee, M.D., was awarded a Master Clinician/Teacher Award at the annual Duke University Spring Faculty Meeting on May 4, 2011. The award honors individuals with superlative accomplishment and service in the areas of clinical care and teaching.
Dr. Yee is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Hospital and Emergency Medicine at Duke University. Yee graduated from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine in 1988. He went on to complete his residency in pediatrics at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
The value and emphasis Duke places on the educational process were key elements in Yee’s decision to join the faculty at Duke. In addition, there was an appealing link between Harbor-UCLA and Duke: Joseph St. Geme, Jr., M.D., the father of Duke’s current Chair of Pediatrics, had hired many of the faculty at Harbor-UCLA, whom Yee considered to be instrumental in his training and education.
Since joining Duke, Yee has pursued his interests in medical student and resident education, sports injuries, head trauma, and cardiac emergencies. Upon winning the Master Clinician/Teacher award, Yee said, “Being here at Duke has been exceptional in allowing me the opportunity to be creative and to improvise in a way that no other school would be able to match.”
Congratulations Dr. Yee!
