Congratulations are in order to Dr. Carol Berkowitz who was elected to one of three new Board of Directors seats for the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
Dr. Berkowitz will bring extensive medical education experience and knowledge to the NRMP in her role as board member. She has served as Chair of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education's Review Committee for Pediatrics, the Board of Directors of the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and currently serves on the AMA's Council on Medical Education.

Dr. Berkowitz is Executive Vice Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and Division Chief of General Pediatrics at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. In 2004, she was President of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). A role-model for pediatricians, Dr. Berkowitz is a nationally recognized expert on primary care pediatrics and child maltreatment. She is the author of several hundred articles and book chapters and is the editor of Berkowitz's Pediatrics: A Primary Care Approach, a textbook for pediatricians, pediatric residents, and medical students, now in press for its 5th edition.
