Welcome to Harbor-UCLA

By admin - Posted on 14 January 2010

The practice of medicine has undergone great changes over the past two decades and this evolution is likely to accelerate in the years ahead. The Department of Pediatrics at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center takes great pride in providing physicians with an excellent background that will prepare them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in their chosen career. This training is offered in an environment that is notable for its uniquely strong and cooperative spirit.

Our program attracts physicians who want to make a difference in the world, whether that is through clinical practice, advances in research, or work in the public health arena. The combination of a full time academic faculty practicing in a public hospital with a remarkably diverse patient population allows for exceptional training. Residents will obtain exposure to primary care, subspecialty care, acute trauma, critical care, and managed care pediatrics. Each trainee is encouraged to explore their interests and enhance their training with additional experience in community activism, research, or specific aspects of clinical care. At the end of their training, residents are well-prepared for whatever they choose as the next phase of their careers. We derive great satisfaction from the many contributions our graduates have made to improving the health of children.
